We are actively committed in reducing the environmental impact of our activities by aiming at improving the quality of life. Our commitment allowed us to achieve important results in terms of sustainability, encouraging us every day to do more.

REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS (CO2)

Being aware of the environmental impacts of your organization is the first step to understand how to contain emissions, which energy measures to introduce to reduce energy consumption and communicate and how to communicate the company's commitment and social responsibility towards environmental sustainability.

In 2022, thanks to the energy efficiency improvement, NUPI avoided several tons of CO₂, equivalent to the emissions that 828 cars would have produced in a year, or 8.900 oil barrels consumed, or 467.594.332 mobile phones recharged.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS EPD

NUPI Industrie Italiane understands the value of sustainability and has for some time now adopted a policy aimed at reducing its environmental impacts. One of the most important features of this action was the implementation, in 2018, of a dedicated EPD TOOL, for the creation of the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) of its piping systems.   

This Tool, developed by Thinkstep (SPHERA group) on the GABI Envision platform, was subsequently validated, and certified by an independent third party. Equipping the company with this powerful tool has allowed NUPI to calculate and report the Environmental Footprint of its main products and production processes, with the aim of reducing the potential environmental impacts associated with its activities objectively and transparently.         

PLAN FOR REDUCING AND COMPENSATING EMISSIONS

NUPI has been carrying out process innovations for some time now, in accordance with its quality and environmental policies, which allow the company to improve its overall sustainability profile. 

Thanks to the environmental product declarations, NUPI can also analyse both the life cycle of the products and the activities carried out by the company, identifying the areas on which to intervene to reduce and offset greenhouse gas emissions. The aims of reducing and offsetting these emissions concern raw materials (with the inclusion of materials obtained from renewable sources and consequent reduction of those of fossil origin), the purchase of electricity 100% generated from renewable sources, the replacement of plastic packaging with paper or plastic, as much as possible recycled, and the activation of a virtuous system for the recycling and recovery of pre-consumer waste and process water.       

Reduction of energy requirements with consequent improvement of the company's performance indices, process optimization, eco-sustainable product design, digitization of activities, selection and procurement of sustainable packaging materials, strategic and responsible selection of its suppliers and, last but not least, promotion of policies to generate awareness in people, at all levels of competence and role, that their choices today will build the future of our planet. This, and not only, is NUPI's commitment to the environment and future generations.     

With regard to energy consumption, it is important to note that, in relation to most of the other materials used for the production of piping systems (steel, copper, cast iron), plastic pipes consume less energy for their production. They are also extremely durable (100 years) and require minimal, if not non-existent, maintenance and repair interventions, as they are not subject to wear, fatigue and corrosion, typical of metallic materials.
