EU REACH Regulation 1907/2006 – Identification of Articles Containing SVHC Substances

Article 33 of EU REACH Regulation 1907/2006 requires suppliers to inform their customers about the presence, in the supplied articles, of substances included in the list referred to in Article 59 of the REACH Regulation, the "Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern" (SVHC), when present at a concentration above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w).

Companies placing on the EU market articles containing SVHC substances included in the Candidate List at concentrations above 0.1% w/w are required to submit information on such articles to ECHA through the SCIP database, a database for information on “Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products)”, established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).

The only SVHC that may be present in NUPI products is Lead, at a concentration exceeding the above-mentioned threshold of 0.1% w/w, contained in certain brass alloys.

These brass alloys are used in brass threaded transition fittings, in the electrofusion pins of electrofusion fittings, and in the body and components of certain fittings.

This material is included in the UBA (German Environment Agency) positive list for metallic materials in contact with drinking water and in the 4MS Common Composition List acceptance scheme for metallic parts in contact with drinking water.

Alternatives to products containing leaded brass alloys are available upon request.
