The ELAMID system of Polyamide pipes and fittings for the transport of high pressure gas diameter 160mm SDR11 was installed in Fortaleza, Brazil. ELAMID is a complete Polyamide 12 pipe and fitting system that satisfies high performance requirements in gas supply applications. ELAMID is produced through the adoption of Polyamide 12, an advanced polymer material that is approved and standardized in compliance with ISO 16486 and ASTMF2785 Standards for the conveyance of natural gas. For the gas transport network in Fortaleza, 24 km of pipe and its electrofusion and butt fusion fittings were installed through horizontal directional drilling, a trenchless method suitable for the installation of new pipelines without the need to carry out open pit excavations that guarantees considerable saving of time and installation costs. In situ, a non-destructive test was also performed at 2 bar. The ELAMID system is light weight, flexible, easy to handle and eco-friendly and makes it simple to connect future users.
