ELAMID SYSTEM INSTALLED IN SPAIN
NUPI Industrie Italiane has supplied the PA-U12 ELAMID polyamide piping and fittings system for the connection of a green hydrogen generation plant that will power the new experimental solar thermal plant project at the Extremadura University Campus in Badajoz, Spain. For the H2 system conveyed with PA-U12 pipes, 115-meter-long coils with a diameter of 63 mm and electrofusion fittings were used and welded using electrofusion welding machines. The ELAMID polyamide system is particularly suitable for conveying hydrogen up to 16 bars, since it has a low permeability to H2 molecules compared to that of PE pipes and does not undergo hydrogen embrittlement like steel pipes. The systems are safer, more reliable, and almost free from subsequent maintenance.
