OLYMPICS SPECIAL - NUPI Industrie Italiane contributed its NIRON PP-RCT systems to the renovation of the Milano Ice Skating Arena ice rink at the Unipol Forum in Assago, the venue for the 2026 Winter Olympics ice skating competitions. The arena hosted Olympic disciplines such as figure skating and short track ice skating, events that require perfectly uniform surfaces, pinpoint temperature control, and highly reliable refrigeration systems. A centralized system generates cold for the ice rink: refrigeration units generate chilled glycol water (or other heat-transfer fluid) that is distributed beneath the rink within a network of pipes. The fluid absorbs heat from the concrete slab and keeps the ice at a constant temperature, ensuring the quality, durability, and safety of the surface. The versatility of the NIRON PP-RCT systems allowed for rapid intervention, optimizing the installation and connection phases. Specifically, the NIRON ALL-PRO pre-insulated system allowed for a complete solution directly connected to the refrigeration plant, delivering high thermal and mechanical performance, reducing heat loss and installation times. This technologically advanced project combines efficiency, speed of execution, and reliability, supporting an infrastructure that plays a key role in the Olympic competitions.
